Founded in 2021, ChipFlow is a UK startup developing an open source semiconductor chip design platform (PaaS). As the world’s first chip design platform that integrates seamlessly with the supply chain, ChipFlow provides OEMs with a one stop shop for their custom chip design needs. The unique custom chip approach is designed for OEMs seeking more independence and innovation. Now currently creating an MVP with lead customers across a number of sectors, we are open to working with companies who want to work with us.

Meet the Leadership team

  • Rob Taylor (CSO + CTO)

    Rob is driven by his passion for empowering individuals to unleash their creativity, believing this will enable new products and business models that we can't yet imagine.

    With over 20 years of commercialising Open Source Software, and two previous successful exits (rev £10m), he combines startup leadership experience with deep technical knowledge to bring the vision, strategy and delivery.

  • Tomi Rantakari (CEO)

    A seasoned executive leader from startups to large multicationals, Tomi has traversed the corporate world, founding successful new business units and managing P&Ls of $3b and 20,000 employees. Adding the commercial acumen and market transformation to ChipFlow, alongside a desire to build something big and successful.

  • Michel Laudes (Product Management Head)

    Starting his career as a engineering manager at the first ever chip design tools company in 1986, his career has given him a unique understanding of the full semi conductor design process, from it's beginnings through to the present day. Michael see's clearly that, with everything in the design ecospace that is currently changing, the time for semiconductor disruption has come.

  • Ian Page (Director)

    The founder of the Hardware Compilation groups at Oxford, Ian has experienced first-hand the power of bringing a software mindset into the hardware space.

    He brings a deep understanding of the challenges in bringing a new approach to the semiconductor industry.

  • Ross Motley (Engineering Head)

    Ross has 20 years of experience delivering web applications, and is passionate about making technology work for humans.

    Over the last three years, as part of the co-founding team, Ross has quickly mastered the nuances of the semi-conductor space and requirements.

The broad ChipFlow Co-Founding team consists of multiple open sourced hardware leaders across front and back-end design flow areas. The overall team brings together a unique composition of talent across open source hardware, traditional semi-conductor design, cloud and other required disciplines such as supply chain and market making.
